Gymnema extracts doubled the number of insulin-secreting beta cells in the pancreas and returned blood sugars to almost normal Gymnema increases the activity of enzymes responsible for glucose uptake and utilization, and inhibits peripheral utilization of glucose by somatotrophin and corticotrophin.
